Springfield at State

Springfield has a great baseball tradition. The city has been the home of the state amateur baseball champions twice, in 1944 and 1946. Springfield finished second in 1928, 1929, 1948, and 1959. The Tigers brought home the third place trophy in 1951, 1993, and 1998. Springfield has been represented in the state tournament 30 times, including seven straight years twice, from 1957-1963 and 1992-1998.

J.M. Brennan Sportsmanship Trophy Winner

The St Paul Baseball Club donated the J.M. Brennan Sportsmanship Trophy in 1941 to the team who showed great sportsmanship during the state tournament. This trophy was a traveling trophy until 1987 when the Hinckley Baseball Association started donating a new trophy to each winner. The trophy was renamed the J.M. and J.D. Brennan Sportsmanship Trophy.
