Long Sox Take Advantage of Sloppy Tiger Defense

7/8/07

Seven Springfield errors led to seven unearned runs as the Tigers lost to Lamberton, 13-5.

Jake Miesen started for Springfield, going the first 6 1/3 innings.  Springfield trailed by just one run going into the bottom of the seventh inning, 5-4.  The Long Sox knocked out Miesen in the bottom of the seventh and plated five runs on six hits with the aid of a Tiger error.  Jesse Berg came on in relief and gave up six runs, none of which were earned, over the final inning and two-thirds.

Springfield cut the Lamberton lead by one in the top of the eighth, but were unable to get back into the game.  The loss, Springfield's seventh of the season, drops the Tigers' record to 12-7 on the year.  Next up, they travel to New Ulm on Wednesday night for a match-up with the Brewers,
