Tigers Start 2006 Season With a 10 Inning Victory

Searles Makes Quick Work of the Tigers

6/25/06

After yet another rainout on Friday evening, the Tigers were back in action against the Grizzlies on Sunday night, looking to top off the weekend's Riverside Days activities.  The game's pace was super quick, as there were a combined eleven one-two-three innings.  Searles jumped out in front in the top of the fifth when they scored a run on three hits.  They took a 2-0 lead in the eighth when they took advantage of a lead-off single and a Tiger error.  Springfield made it a one-run game in the bottom of the inning when they scored aided by two Searles errors.  Jon Diede got a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth, but the Tigers couldn't get the run essential to continue the ballgame.  The Tigers will look to play make-up some games during the next week.  They have three games to fit into the schedule.  Stay tuned to tigerbaseball.thebpark.com to find out when that action will take place at Riverside Park.

Matt Tews pitched anther fantastic game for Springfield.  He pitched a complete game giving up just one earned run on six hits.  The loss brings his record on the year to 5-2.  Offensively, the Tigers were held in check getting only three hits, one each by Ryan Sturm, Diede, and a double by Chris Sturm.
