Tigers Start 2006 Season With a 10 Inning Victory

Too Little Too Late in Hanska

6/4/06

It's tough for any team to come back after giving up nine runs in the first three innings.  The Tigers battled, but it just wasn't enough, as they lost their second game of the year at Hanska on Sunday night.  Springfield trailed 11-1 going into the top of the seventh inning and were in danger of being ten-runned.  Two base-hits and a Laker error got the Tigers the run they needed in order to keep playing.  The Tigers didn't give up and started the top of the eighth inning with five straight hits yielding three runs.  Hanska added one more run in the bottom of the eighth to bring the final score to 12-5.  The loss drops Springfield to 5-2 on the season.

Adam Timm had a rough 2006 mound debut for the Tigers.  Timm pitched the first 4 2/3 innings and was charged with eleven runs, nine of which were earned.  Jon Diede came in to pitch the final 3 1/3 innings and looked very good in his second outing of the year, giving up just one run, while striking out five.  Ryan Sturm and Jon Diede led the Tiger offense with two hits each.  Adam Timm, Bob Fink, Marty Brandl, Brady Schwab, Derek Krebs, and Matt Baier all added one hit to the offensive attack.
