Tigers Ride Momentum to Down Cubs
6/23/19 & 6/29/19
NOTES: This game began on Sunday, June 23, but was suspended in the top of the fourth with the score tied at two and the bases loaded. In order to make use of the daylight and be able to complete the game at Riverside Park, it was scheduled to be resumed following the Tigers already scheduled make-up game against New Ulm. In the New Ulm game, the Tigers fell behind 7-2 before battling back to lose, 8-7.
It seemed the Tigers rode that momentum when they resumed their contest against the Cubs. Courtland got a single to take a 3-2 lead. Then the Tigers got a 6-4-3 double play to get out of the jam. They powered right back to score two and take back the lead in the bottom of the inning.
Courtland didn't quit though, putting up 2 runs in the top of the fifth. The Tigers went right back to work in the bottom of the inning, regaining the lead, and never looking back, en route to a 12-6 victory.
